Nicknamed “Dragon Slayers” for their outstanding combat performance in the Pacific during World War II and Korea while designated as a company in a Tank Destroyer Battalion and then as a Tank Battalion, the members of today’s 224th Sustainment Brigade continue to live up to the standard of the Brigade motto SERVIENS SEMPER, Latin for “Always Serving.”
Most recently, the Brigade’s overseas service from June 2010 to March 2011 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom was recognized with a Meritorious Unit Commendation. Honors earned by predecessor units in the Brigade’s lineage include an Army Presidential Unit Citation, a Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
The 224th Sustainment Brigade Combat Service ID Badge, or CSIB, employs the same insignia used for the full-color unit patch, or Shoulder Sleeve Insignia that was approved on 31 July 2008. You can learn about the symbolism of the images of the CSIB by checking out the detailed information on the 224th Sustainment Brigade unit patch and the Brigade's Distinctive Unit Insignia.
