The 225th Engineer Brigade CSIB (Combat Service Identification Badge) features features a shield divided by a white bend, with the upper half in scarlet and the lower in black. Scarlet and white are, of course, the colors of the Army Corps of Engineers, while black in heraldry suggests iron and refers to the unit’s armored engineering duties. In addition, the white is also reminiscent of a landing strip, which recalls the Brigade’s former designation as the 225th Engineer Aviation Battalion.
A tower on the scarlet field connotes the Brigade’s ability to carry out heavy construction, while the fleur-de-lis is a nod to the French heritage of Louisiana, the Brigade’s home state and its primary area of operations. The Brigade is headquartered at Camp Beauregard near Pineville, with four subordinate Engineer Battalions (the 527th, 528th, 769th, and 205th) stationed throughout the state.
The 225th Engineer Brigade CSIB is based entirely upon the its Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch, that was approved on 8 November 2007. Its Distinctive Unit Insignia, or unit crest, was originally approved the 225th Engineer Aviation Battalion, and was redesignated for the 225th Engineer Group with amended symbolism in June 1968. It was redesignated for the 225th Engineer Brigade in July 2007 and features the unit motto, "Confectio."
