One of two Aviation Brigades in the United States Army Reserve, the 244th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade (ECAB) was originally constituted as the 244th Aviation Group in 1988. It was redesignated the 244th Aviation Brigade in 1995 and was subsequently designated as a Theater Aviation Brigade before receiving its current title. A component of the 11th Theater Aviation Command, the Brigade has command and control of over 2700 Soldiers and some 130 rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft, with 17 installations located in 13 states across the nation. Its motto, "Wings Of The Hawk," emphasizes the Brigade's vigilance and striking capabilities.
The 244th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade Combat Service ID Badge, or CSIB for short, is a pin-on metal version of the full-color Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) that was originally approved in 1995 for the 244th Aviation Brigade. Use the "SSI" link below to read an explanation of the symbolism in the SSI/CSIB insignia.
