“Peace Law Order” was the motto of the 260th Military Police (MP) Command, a District of Columbia National Guard unit descended from the 260th Antiaircraft Artillery Group. Originally designated as an MP Group, the unit was redesignated as a Brigade in 1985 and as an MP Command in 1992. The Command was inactivated in the mid-2000s.
The 260th Military Police Command Combat Service ID Badge, or CSIB, is based upon the color version of the unit’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia that was approved in 1986 while the unit was still a Brigade. Three red stars and two red bars on a white background are taken from the District of Columbia (which in turn had taken them from the coat of arms of the family of George Washington).
A green scale of justice with an upright, unsheathed sword serving as the balance bar symbolizes the two-pronged nature of the Military Police’s job: providing armed security to safeguard Army operations and the upholding of the rule of law, from investigations to arrest, detention, and penal imprisonment.
