The Combat Service ID Badge of the 261st Signal Brigade (TTSB), or 261st Theater Tactical Signal Brigade, is derived from the Brigade’s full-color Shoulder Sleeve Insignia that was approved on 7 January 1971 and most recently redesignated on 1 September 1996. Visit our 261st Signal Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia page (SSI link below) to learn about the symbolism embodied in the colors and imagery of the design.
Originally constituted as the 68th Antiaircraft Artillery Brigade, the 261st Signal Brigade’s history includes participation in two World War II campaigns, Northern Solomons and Luzon, and its service was honored with a Philippine Presidential Unit Citation for its role in the liberation of the Philippines. Since the inception of the War on Terrorism, the Brigade’s dedication to mission has been recognized with an Army Superior Unit Award (ASUA) and a Meritorious Unit Commendation. The ASUA was particularly fitting in light of the unit motto “Foresee,” as it was awarded in part for the Brigade’s preparation for a deployment less than two months away while simultaneously forming, operating, and showcasing the National Guard Bureau Joint C4 Coordination Center from September 2007 to September 2008.
