Based upon the color version of the unit’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, the 321st Civil Affairs Brigade Combat Service ID Badge, or CSIB, is worn on the right front of the coat of the Army Service Uniform and jacket of the Mess / Evening Mess uniforms. The instructions for placement are different for male and female Soldiers, but anyone authorized a CSIB may choose to move other ID badges normally worn on the right side of those uniforms over to the left in order to give the CSIB more prominence. Soldiers may be authorized more than one CSIB, but only one CSIB may be worn at a given time.
The 321st Civil Affairs Brigade’s status as a unit in the Civil Affairs and Psychological is denoted by the purple background of the CSIB. A partially sheathed sword signifies the Brigade’s mission of establishing and keeping the peace, a goal reiterated in the unit motto “Peace Thru Unity.” The gold color of the sword and scabbard stand for excellence and achievement.
