The 351st Civil Affairs Command Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) is a metal facsimile of the color version of the Command’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Introduced at the same time as the Army Service Uniform (ASU) was rolled out in 2008, CSIBs were designed as the ASU equivalent of the colored Shoulder Sleeve Insignia worn on the left sleeve of the Class A Green Service uniform. They are worn on the right side of the Army Service/Dress uniform coat and the Mess/Evening Mess jacket; see the January 2021 edition pf DA 670-1, Section 22-17 (
pp. 331 through
333) for precise guidance on placement and other regulations involving CSIBs.
Following unit deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom – Horn of Africa, the 351st Civil Affairs Command was officially aligned with operational control under USPACOM (U.S. Pacific Command) in 2015 in order to support civil-military operations along the Pacific. Specific areas of support include foreign humanitarian assistance, military operations, and civil administration. USPACOM area of responsibility comprises three dozen countries and more than a thousand languages, providing 351st CAC with some of its greatest challenges as it seeks to aid other nations so that their citizens may also be “Born Of Freedom.”
