Nicknamed the Timberwolf Brigade in a nod to its home base at Camp Snelling, Minnesota, the the U.S. Army Reserves’s 372nd Engineer Brigade has responded with superior performance worthy of its motto, “Engineer Leadership,” every time it has been called into active service.
Ordered into military service in July 1920 and redesignated the 337th Engineer General Service Regiment, it took part in three World War II campaigns in Italy—Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, and North Apennines—before it was disbanded in September 1944.
While designated the 372nd Engineer Group, the unit was called into active Federal service at the end of 2003, earning at Meritorious Unit Commendation streamer for Southwest Asia 2004-2005 before reverting back to Reserve status on 3 June 2005. Similarly, it earned a Meritorious Unit Commendation for its deployment in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2008-2009.
The 372nd Engineer Group Combat Service ID Badge, worn on the Army Service/Dress and Mess/Evening Mess uniforms, features the same design as the color version of the unit’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI).
