The 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Combat Service ID Badge, or CSIB, is taken from the Brigade’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch. The patch was first approved on 11 May 1990 for the 404th Chemical Brigade. It was cancelled on 1 April 1998 following the inactivation of the Brigade on 1 September 1997.
On 1 September 2001, the Brigade was reactivated, and exactly one year later the insignia was reinstated and authorized for the 404th Chemical Brigade on 1 September 2002. Following the conversion, reorganization, and redesignation of the Brigade in 2008, the insignia was subsequently redesignated for the 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, with revised symbolism, on 1 September 2011.
A unit in the Illinois Army National Guard, the 40th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade is headquartered in Normal Illinois and consists of a HQ Company, Signal Company, and four Battalions—Military Police, Chemical, Engineer, and Support.
