The 41st Field Artillery Brigade Combat Service ID Badge is a metal facsimile of the color version of the Brigade’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia approved for wear in November 1981. Scarlet and red, the only colors used for the insignia, have long been associated with all types of Artillery units. A gun tube is used to represent howitzers, and two lighting flashes are emblems of the speed and firepower of the Brigade’s ordnance. (It's slightly disappointing the insignia has no symbolism related to its service as a railway artillery unit in the 1920s, a fact that spawned the unit's nickname of "Railgunners.)
The 41st Field Artillery Brigade was assigned to V Corps for its 2003 deployment to Iraq to prosecute Operation Iraqi Freedom. A Valorous Unit Award was bestowed on a Detachment from the Brigade’s Headquarters and Headquarters Battery (HHB) for its service between 7 March and 1 May 2003 with a Valorous Unit Award. The entire HHB was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation for its actions around roughly the same time frame (07 March to 15 May 2003).
