With the capability to exercise the three Military Police disciplines of policing operations, detention operations, and mobility and security support, the Rhode Island National Guard’s 43rd Military Police Brigade is the command element for the 118th Military Police Battalion and the 1st Battalion of the 103rd Field Artillery Regiment. It also serves as the Command HQ for the regional Military Police and the State’s National Guard Task Force and can respond in support of Domestic Homeland Defense and Security Missions.
The 43d Military Police Brigade Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) is a metal facsimile of the color version of the Brigade’s unit patch, which was approved on 16 May 1969. It consists of a green shield with a white pike superimposed over three green wavy bars and a yellow wall with two crenelles. Green and yellow are Military Police Colors; the wavy bars represent Narragansett Bay, near the unit’s home area; the crenellated fortification alludes to the 15th-century city of Rhodes, capital of the Island of Rhodes (namesake of Rhode Island). The white pike suggests the Brigade’s ability to deliver protection and support.
