Originally constituted in the Regular Army as HQ and HQ Company, 43rd General Support Group on 18 January 1966 and activated on 22 March of the same year, the 43rd Sustainment Brigade underwent several reorganizations/redesignations before becoming a Brigade. It was redesignated as HHC, 43rd Support Group in 1970, and again as 43rd Corps Support Group in 1973. Under that designation, the unit would deploy in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Hope and Operation Restore Hope (Somalia), but in 1994 it was again redesignated, this time as the 43rd Area Support Group.
Deployments in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom followed, with the Group eventually taking part in six named campaigns (though other campaigns may be added to the list at a latter date). After being converted and redesignated to a 43rd Sustainment Brigade on 17 July 2008, the unit would be deployed to Afghanistan again in 2010, with its outstanding service being recognized with the award of a Meritorious Unit Commendation in 2012.
The Brigade was inactivated on July 2015, falling just a year short of reaching 50 years of setting the example of how to “Provide With Pride.”
