The Combat Service ID Badge of the 45th Field Artillery Brigade is a metal version of the colored Shoulder Sleeve Insignia-Former Wartime Service patch that was at one time authorized for wear on the Class A Green Service uniform (subdued versions of the SSS-FWTS are worn on the Army Combat Uniform).
Scarlet and yellow are colors long associated with Field Artillery, and the diagonally oriented field piece further connotes the Brigade’s status in that branch. A Thunderbird and an arrowhead are visual reminders of the Brigade’s links to the 45th Infantry Division, whose unit patch also featured the Thunderbird and whose unit crest had an Indian head as a nod to the Native Americans who populated the Division’s home state of Oklahoma.
Whether serving in response to a call from the Federal government or acting to protect, defend, and aid the people of their home state, the 45th Field Artillery Brigade always keeps its motto of "Pride Valor Excellence" at the front of its mind when executing its assigned duties.
