Based upon the full-color version of the unit’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, the 518th Sustainment Brigade Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) is a pin-on metal accouterment worn on the right front of the men’s and women’s Army Service/Dress Uniform coat and Mess/Evening Mess jacket. Precise placement on the right front of these garments varies between Male and Female Soldiers, and we suggest you read Section 22-17 (
pp. 331 through
333) of the January 2021 or later edition of Department of the Army Pamphlet 670-1 for full guidance on wear of the CSIB.
Based in Knightdale, North Carolina, the 518th Sustainment Brigade is a subordinate unit of the 143rd Sustainment Command, which itself is a part of the 377th Theater Sustainment Command. The 518th was stood up on 16 September 2010, the same day the Brigade received approval for the wear of its unit patch and Distinctive Unit Insignia featuring the Brigade’s motto of “Sustain The Attack.
