Nicknamed the “Nebraska Brigade, the 67th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade was officially organized as an Infantry unit in the Nebraska National Guard in July 1921. In the 90-plus years that have followed, the unit has undergone an almost bewildering series of inactivations, redesignations, consolidations, and reactivations, not acquiring its current numerical designation until 1963 (as the 67th Separate Infantry Brigade).
Designations aside, the unit has been inducted into Federal service three times, once during World War II (December 1940) as an Infantry unit and twice during Operation Iraqi Freedom (July 2005 and July 2010), first as a Support Group and second as a Battlefield Surveillance Brigade. The Brigade held the Battlefield Surveillance Brigade designation for less than a decade before it was redesignated as a Maneuver Enhancement in November 2016.
Regardless of its designation, assignment, or duties, the Nebraska Brigade has made its motto, “All Hell Can’t Stop Us,” a statement of fact rather than aspiration, earning a Presidential Unit Citation and a French Croix de Guerre with Palm during World War II and a Meritorious Unit Commendation when serving as a Support Group in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
