The design of the Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) authorized for the 75th Ranger Regiment (i.e., for personnel assigned to its Headquarters and Headquarters Company) is almost identical to the organization’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI), or unit patch, that was originally approved for the 75th Infantry Regiment on 26 July 1984.
On 3 February 1986, the 75th Infantry Regiment was consolidated with five Ranger Infantry and one Infantry Battalion to form the 75th Ranger Regiment, and just eleven days later this SSI was redesignated for the newly created unit.
A pin-on badge introduced at the roughly the same time as the blue Army Service/Dress Uniform (ASU) that replaced the colored SSI-MOHC worn on the old Class A Army Green Uniform, the CSIB is authorized for wear on the ASU/ASU Dress, Mess, and Evening Mess Uniforms. It is always worn on the right side of the uniform, and personnel may wear only one CSIB at a time regardless of how many they may be authorized to wear.
