As a subordinate unit of United States Army South, the 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support) is aligned to support U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), which provides security cooperation, contingency planning, force protection, and operations for U.S. military resources in Central and South America, and the Caribbean (excluding U.S. territories, possessions, and commonwealths).
The 807th Medical Command is the largest medical command in the Army Reserve, comprising close to 10,000 Soldiers serving in 99 units based in 26 different states. Five Medical Brigades serve as Directing Reporting Units to the 807th: the 2nd (California), 139th (Missouri), the 176th (Texas), the 307th, (Ohio), and 330th (Illinois).
Utilizing the same design found on its unit patch (Shoulder Sleeve Insignia), the Combat Service Identification Badge (CSIB) for the 807th features a cross (symbolizing the compassion involved in the delivery of medical care), a sword (reflecting the unit’s military service) and a star (symbol of the state of Texas, the unit’s home when it was reorganized as a Command in 2002. The colors maroon and white are the colors traditionally associated with the Army Medical Department.
