The 82nd Sustainment Brigade Distinctive Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) is a metal reproduction of the non-subdued version of the Brigade’s unit insignia, which was approved for wear on 8 November 2007; the Brigade was formed a year earlier through the reorganization and redesignation of the 82nd Airborne Division Support Command. You can learn about the symbolism of this insignia and the Brigade’s history of “Supporting Freedom” by using the link below to read about the 82nd Sustainment Brigade Patch (SSI).
Although the Brigade was redesignated as the 82nd Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade in 2015, its current personnel who served in the Brigade while it was the 82nd Sustainment Command may still choose to wear this CSIB instead of the 82nd Airborne Division CSIB. Note that only one CSIB may be worn at a given time, and that other, lower-precedence Identification Badges normally worn on the right side may be moved to the left side in order to give the CSIB more prominence.
