Activated in 2006, the 8th Theater Sustainment Command is the top Army logistics command in the U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM), providing command and control for every attached and assigned unit that falls under its operational umbrella. It is responsible for the training and equipment of required forces, generating and planning combat support/combat service support functions; and providing complete support of both joint and combined forces engaged in any military operations in the Pacific Area of Responsibility (AOR).
8th Sustainment Command’s CSIB (Combat Service Identification Badge) reiterates its numerical designation with eight red and white wedges behind an eight-pointed star. The red-and-white pattern is somewhat similar to the design of the 8th Army’s CSIB and Unit Crest. The CSIB for the Command bears little resemblance to its Unit Crest, or Distinctive Unit Insignia. The overarching mission of the Command is embodied in its unit motto, "Sustain The Force," which caps the unit crest.
