The Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) of the Guam Army National Guard (ARNG) Element, Joint Force Headquarters (HQ) uses the same design as the organization’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch. It was first approved for wear by all personnel in the Guam ARNG in May 1981 and was redesignated for the ARNG Element in the Joint Force HQ of the territory’s National Guard on 1 October 2003. Combat Service ID Badges were introduced along with the blue Army Service Uniform and were intended to serve as that uniform’s equivalent of the colored Former Wartime Service (FWTS) patch worn on the wearer’s right sleeve of the Green Army Service Uniform. With the “return” of the Army Green Service Uniform, the CSIB remains authorized for wear on the blue Army Service/Dress uniform, as well as on the Mess and Evening Mess uniforms—but not on the AGSU coat since it marks the return of the wear of colored FWTS insignia on the wearer’s right sleeve. However, the FWTS is now known as an MOHC insignia for Military Operations in Hostile Conditions.
Only one CSIB may be worn at a time, and it is not authorized for wear on the ACU or Utility uniforms.
