U.S. ARMY ELEMENT, SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND KOREA COMBAT SERVICE ID BADGE (CSIB)

The Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) for the U.S. Army Element, Special Operations Command Korea (SOCKOR) features the same insignia as used for the organization’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. You can read about the symbolism of the insignia by clicking the link to the SOCKOR patch below.

Introduced at the same time as the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU) was first made available as the replacement for the old “Army Greens” Service Uniform that was first worn in the mid-1950s, the CSIB was the ASU equivalent of the colored Shoulder Sleeve Insignia-Former Wartime Service (SSI-FWTS) that was optionally worn on the wearer’s right sleeve of the old Army Green Service Uniform. In addition to the Class A and B Army Service Uniform, the CSIB is authorized for wear on the Mess and Evening Mess uniforms; the requirement for miniature badges only on Class B ASU and the two Mess uniforms was waived for the CSIB since it is produced in only the standard size.

The CSIB is worn on the wearer’s right side, with its placement depending upon the type of uniform and whether the wearer is a male or female. Detailed instructions are found in the January 2021 edition of DA PAM 670-1 (males click here, females here.)
