The United States Army Cyber Command Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI), commonly called a shoulder patch or unit patch, was approved for wear on 1 October 2010. It was subsequently amended to correct the unit designation on 22 October 2010.
A black pentagon with a green border is the basis of the insignia, with the border alluding to Army Forces Cyber Command as a land-based organization and the interior white border symbolizing the Command’s ability to contain threats against our nation’s cyberspace infrastructure. The black background alludes to space, the organization’s operational area, with the flowing gridlined pattern representing the shifting electronic energy of the Cyberspace environment.
The global outreach of the Command’s operations is signified by a terrestrial globe shaded from light to dark to indicate the round-the-clock nature of the mission and the interaction of its cyber responsibilities. A trio of spears is an allusion to the three areas of computer network warfare capabilities: Attack, Defense, and Exploitation. A lightning flash is an emblem that indicates the ability of the command to strike anywhere on the globe with breathtaking speed.
