U.S. ARMY CYBER COMMAND UNIT CREST (DUI)

More commonly referred to as a DUI or a "unit crest," the Distinctive Unit Insignia for U.S. Army Cyber Command was approved on 21 July 2011. The meshlike yellow texture (The Institute of Heraldry’s description calls it a “gold flowing grid pattern) set against a black background symbolizes the shifting electronic energy in the Cyberspace environment, with black representing space. A fleur-de-lis commemorates the Cyber Command’s lineage to Second Army and thus the additional credit for participation in the Lorraine 1918 campaign in France during World War One.

A trio of spears symbolizes three primary tactics in computerized cyber warfare: Attack, Defend, Exploit. The lightning bolt is an emblem of the Command’s ability to strike with incredible swiftness, while the green color used for the enveloping scroll alludes to the global reach of Army Cyber Command (it also conveys the message that the Command is a land-based organization). The Command’s motto is SECUNDUM AD NEMINEM, Latin for “Second To None.”

United States Army Cyber Command is headquartered at Fort Eisenhower, Georgia (formerly known as Fort Eisenhower), which is also home to the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence.

The Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam (DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however).

For Enlisted personnel, the insignia is centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap" respectively.
