U.S. ARMY CYBER PROTECTION BRIGADE UNIT PATCH (SSI)

On 5 September 2014, the Army activated the Cyber Protection Brigade at Fort Gordon, Georgia (redesignated Fort Eisenhower in October 2023), making it the Army’s first-ever brigade devoted solely to defensive and offensive cyber operations. The Brigade is made up of 39-member Cyber Protection Teams (CPTs), are composed of both Soldiers and civilians, which were created to be able to respond quickly to a threat as well as actively search for threats they may be lurking on a network or trying to gain access to it.

A CPT is split into for components. The Headquarters section naturally handles administrative functions and lays the groundwork for training and planning for upcoming missions. Two mission sections are complemented by a single support section, which is able to accommodate both mission groups because they have the same type of personnel structure and use the same type of equipment.

The Cyber Protection Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI) was approved on 2 November 2015 and its design is used for the Brigade’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch. A disc in the middle of a shield is a symbol of the globe and denotes the unit’s reach through global networks. The compass rose superimposed on the disc signifies the exploration of emerging technologies and highlights the reality that the Brigade’s Soldiers are pioneers in the realm of cyber defense. A total of 13 stars on the insignia stand for the 13 original teams that first made up the organization. The unit motto, “OMNES IRE,” translates from Latin into English as “To Go Anywhere” and is found on the Brigade's Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI), commonly called a "unit crest."
