Optional headgear for the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU), the Heritage Green Service Cap is a peaked, military-style unisex cap with a cover made of a 55/45 polyester-wool mock elastique fabric in Heritage Green 564 to match the AGSU coat. Its visor and chinstraps are both manufactured in Heritage Walnut 567 leather.
The Service Cap is worn straight on the head so that the hatband creates a line around the head that is parallel to the ground. It was intentionally designed to simulate the appearance called the “50-mission crush,” with its middle depressed to make the front peak even more pronounced, but there is an optional insert to make the cap more rigid and lessen the effect.
Service Cap insignia is worn on the front of the cap, secured by the eyelet. For Noncommissioned Officers and Junior Enlisted Soldiers, the insignia is a plain, gold-colored disk measuring 1.5 inches in diameter containing a gold-colored metal coat of arms that has been attached to the disk.
