Created on 1 July 1973, the United States Army Forces Command is the successor to the former Continental Army Command. It has eight major subordinate commands, the most recent addition being the Security Force Assistance Command, activated in November 1918. Other major subordinate commands include the U.S. Army Reserve Command, First United States Army, 20th Support Command, 32nd Air and Missile Defense Command, and three Corps (III, V, and XVIII).
This beret flash, also referred to as an organizational flash, is worn on the maroon beret by Command personnel serving as part of an international Joint Task Force (JTF). Officers wear their non-subdued insignia of grade centered on the flash (except Chaplains who wear their branch insignia), while NCOs and Junior Enlisted Officers wear their Distinctive Unit Insignia or, in the event a unit does not have a DUI, their Regimental Distinctive Unit Insignia.
Authorization for organizational flashes and ovals is found in
AR 670-1; wear guidance for these two items is detailed in
paragraph 21-32 of January 2021 edition of DA PAM 670-1.
