The Male Army Green Long-Sleeved Shirt was primarily worn as part of the Class A and Class B Army Green Uniform that served as the Army’s principal Service Uniform from 1954 to 2015. Besides being worn under the Class A Coat the two Service Uniforms and the Green Dress Uniform, it was also authorized for wear with the black unisex Pullover sweater, Cardigan sweaters, and the Windbreaker. Some of the shirt’s specifications and features include:

- Mil-Spec certified 65/35 polycotton blend
- Shoulder loops for slip-on insignia
- Two pleated pockets with button-through flaps
- Seven-button front
- Pre-cured durable press
A tie must be worn with the Green Long-Sleeved Shirt when the shirt is worn with the Class A coat or when the Shirt is worn as an outer garment without the coat (Class B Green Army Uniform). The tie is optional when worn with the Pullover or Cardigan Sweaters, but if a tie is worn with these garments, the shirt collar is worn inside the sweater. If a tie is not worn with the Cardigan, the shirt collars may be worn either inside or outside the sweater; if no tie is worn with the Pullover sweater, the shirt collars are worn outside.
