Service stripes, each representing three years of honorable Federal service, are authorized for wear by Enlisted Soldiers in any component (Active, National Guard, Reserve) of the Army. Service need not be continuous, and includes both active service and Reserve service creditable toward for retirement pay in any of five branches of the Armed Forces of the United States (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard).
This set of two service stripes (six to eight years of cumulative eligible service) is designed for wear on the sleeves of the Mess/Evening Mess uniform jacket. Stripes are trimmed so they run from seam to seam at a 30-degree angle, with the bottom of the set inserted into the front inside sleeve 1/4-inch from cuff braid on the Blue Mess/Evening Mess jacket and three inches from the sleeve bottom on the White jacket.
