U.S. ARMY MEDIC BRASSARD

Brassards are worn as a method to quickly identify designated personnel who are performing a specialized task or who are interacting with the public. Except for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal brassard, brassards are not authorized for full-time wear; instead, they are worn only while actively engaged in the duty or task that is associated with the brassard and it is necessary that others are able to identify the personnel.

Subdued brassards are available in one of two color schemes based upon the two camouflage types that Arm Combat Uniforms have been manufactured in since 2004: the now-discontinued (as of October 2019) Universal Camouflage Pattern and the Operational Camouflage Pattern that took its place. They employ a hook-and-loop (“Velcro”) attachment system and are worn on the shoulder pocket on the left sleeve of the Army Combat Uniform Coat. It is placed on the uppermost portion of the hook-and-loop pad with the top of the text at the top of the pad.

Note: The MEDIC brassard is not listed in recent editions of DA PAM 670-1.
