The Salute Uniforms’ AGSU:
The Best That Money Can Buy
Don’t be fooled by uniform vendors that make vague claims about manufacturing the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) to “higher standards.”
Unlike previous uniforms featuring components that could be manufactured with materials of varying quality, the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center ("Natick" for short) opted to authorize only one material—the optimal one—for manufacturing each part of the AGSU. Simply put, there is no “higher standard” material any manufacturer could use and still receive Army certification for its products.
Quality of workmanship is the other major area that Natick focuses on intently during the certification process. Not only did our uniforms pass thorough and rigorous inspection, their excellent quality was also part of the reason that the Army has asked us to work with them on the design of new uniform components in the production pipeline. When it comes to quality of construction, we're ready to put our AGSUs up against those of any manufacturer or retailer.
The Army Green Service Uniform Coat
Inspired by the service uniform worn by Army Officers from the early 1930s until the early 1950s, the Army Service Dress Coat worn with the Army Green Service Uniform Coat for males is manufactured in Heritage Green and is offered Regular and Long lengths.
But the coat is not simply a replica of the one worn by Army Officers of the “Greatest Generation,” and it has several features designed to make it more functional and comfortable. One of these is a partially unattached snap fastener, also called a snap button or press button, that comes with the coat’s included belt. While one portion of the snap button is already attached to the belt, the other component is sewn onto the coast after the wearer determines the location that provides the optimal fit. Another is the bi-swing back construction with integrated elastic, delivering a body-hugging fit that still allows plenty of freedom of movement.
The AGSU coat for males is being offered in the Classic style and an Athletic style, which has a broader chest area and a more tapered fit near the bottom of the coat. Design elements of the new Army Green Service Uniform Coat for males include:
Two breast pockets with flaps
Two lower flaps with functional welted pockets
Bi-swing construction in back
Shoulder loops with decorative box stitching
Three belt loops
Vertical interior welted breast pocket
About Natick Certification
We worked closely with U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center (NSSC), informally referred to as simply “Natick,” to earn certification for our AGSU ever since its authorization was announced in late 2018. Certification is your guarantee that our uniforms are manufactured with Army-approved materials and that their construction has met or surpassed Natick standards. It also allows our AGSUs to be sold at Army base Exchanges.
