It’s unclear precisely when the Army introduced shoulder straps with metal clips on the back that allow straps to be firmly attached yet easily removed from the Army Service Uniform (ASU) coat, but it’s a safe bet that more than one officer wondered why it took so long for such a simple design to be introduced.
Also called skirt eyes, these shoulder strap clips make it a breeze to replace shoulder straps to reflect change in grade. Just sew a pair on each shoulder of the ASU coat (circular ends positioned front and back), then slide the hook on the shoulder strap under the clips to secure it in place.
We include these shoulder strap clips with all shoulder straps we sell, but like buttons they are handy items to have on hand in case of mishaps.
