COAST GUARD AUXILIARY DIVISION COMMANDER CAP RANK DEVICE
When wearing the Tropical Blue, Winter Dress Blue, or Undress Blue–Winter uniforms, District Commanders (DCDRs) may wear the Garrison Cap with two pieces of headgear insignia: the silver oak leaf mounted with a blue “A” that serves reflects the leadership position of District Commander and a small version of the Auxiliary cap device worn on Combination Caps.
Worn on the right side of the Garrison Cap (from wearer’s perspective), the DCDR insignia is positioned so that its center is simultaneously 2” from the front crease and 1.5” from the bottom of the cap. The Auxiliary cap device is worn on the right side using the same guidelines as for the leadership insignia.
On Auxiliary and U.S. Coast Guard unit ball cap, the DCDR is worn by itself, centered vertically and horizontally between the top two lines of text. (Auxiliarists are permitted to add a third line after “AUXILIARY” consisting of the number of their flotilla, division, and/or district/region.) Coast Guard unit ball caps may be worn only by Auxiliarists assigned to Coast Guard units who have also been authorized to wear a cap; authorizations ends when the Auxiliarist ceases providing direct, recurring support to the USCG unit.
