As the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Auxiliary’s official Uniform of the Day, the Men's Service Dress Blue Uniform (SDB) is appropriate for wear year-round at all meetings, in classrooms, and all other similar Auxiliary functions and any non-operational occasions. Specific instances in which the Service Dress Blue is authorized for wear include while an Auxiliarist is in a travel status pursuant to Coast Guard assignment to duty or when attending a civilian or military event requiring formal wear but the Auxiliarist does not own a Dinner Dress Blue/White Jacket Uniform.
The coat worn with the Auxiliary SDB Uniform is technically designated as the “Service Dress Coast Guard Blue Blouse” in the Auxiliary manual but is more often referred to as the SDB Coat; it is the same coat worn with the U.S. Coast Guard SDB Uniform but with Auxiliary buttons and sleeve insignia and devices. Similarly, the Trousers, Shirt, Shoes, and Tie are all taken from the Coast Guard SDB Uniform. Since 2012, only the white Combination Cap is authorized for wear with the uniform.
Ribbons are worn in lieu of medals or mini-medals with this uniform; other accouterments include breast insignia, devices, and nametag.
