As of 2020, the only Enlisted Female Guardsmen required to own the Dinner Dress White Jacket Uniform (DDWJ) are those serving as Gold Badge Command Master Chiefs (E-9); that number could expand by one when a women is appointed to the billet of Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard. However, all Enlisted female personnel are permitted to purchase the DDWJ, a Summer (“warm weather”) uniform prescribed for wear at official evening functions and formal occasions at which civilian attendees would wear black-tie clothing; examples include formal dances, receptions, dedications, operatic or theatrical productions, symphonies and concerts, and so forth.
Other required components include the Blue Formal Skirt, with a 2-3 inch hem parallel to and no more than 1-1.5 inches off the floor; pleated white shirt with gold rating badge and gold service stripes; gold cummerbund; black pumps with the skirt or black Oxfords or flats with slacks; black necktab; and miniature medals. Optional items include white formal slacks, link-chain closure for the jacket with two
28-ligne gold Coast Guard buttons, and cuff link and shirt studs.
