Aside from its Service Dress Blue Uniform, the Coast Guard has historically followed the lead of the United States Navy when choosing uniforms and uniform designs. In 2018, the Navy finally introduced the new Female Service Dress White Coat, which essentially boiled down to changing the Service Dress White Coat from a single-breasted coat with half-peaked lapels and four gold USN buttons for closure to a single-breasted coat whose choker design closely follows that of the Men’s Service Dress White (SDW) coat. Mandatory possession date for the Navy’s new Female Service Dress White Coat was 1 February 2020.
While the Coast Guard has not officially authorized this new women’s SDW coat, we are offering it here in anticipation that it will be approved at some point in the very near future. Its features include:
♦ Standing “Mandarin” collar
♦ 100% Certified Navy Twill fabric
♦ Fully lined construction
♦ Six Navy eagle gilt buttons
♦ Princess seams
Note: Our military dress coats and jackets are manufactured and ship with unfinished sleeves longer than most customers would ever need. This is to accommodate various arm lengths and to reduce total alteration costs since placement of sleeve stripes or services stripes is based upon distance from the sleeve end, allowing you to hem the sleeve to its regulation length before sewing on sleeve ornamentation.
We offer a variety of sleeve alteration services, including sewing on of shoulder loops which are used to secured Officers’ hard shoulder boards, that will be suggested to you when add the coat to your shopping cart should you prefer to have the coat arrive ready to wear.
