The current version of the Women’s Service Dress White Coat was introduced in the 2003 edition of the United States Coast Guard Uniform Regulations (COMDTINST M1020.6E), replacing a Coat almost identical to it save for the older coat’s two breast-pocket flaps; the current coat has a single welt breast pocket on the left.
This single-breasted coat features a formfitting design in a conventional length, rounded collar, and overlying half-peaked lapels. It’s fastened with four 35-ligne Coast Guard gilt buttons and has a sword slit over the left hip. Besides the Service Dress White Uniform, this coat is also worn with the Full Dress White and Dinner Dress White Uniforms; all three uniforms are authorized for wear only by Officers. We include the shoulder loops necessary to attach
hard shoulder boards with the purchase price of the Coat, but they ship unattached (see sewing services below).
Note: Our military dress coats and jackets are manufactured with unhemmed sleeves longer than most customers would ever need. This is to accommodate the disparity in our customers’ arm lengths and to ensure there is an abundance of material with which to work during the alteration process.
We do offer a variety of sewing services that will be suggested to you when add the coat to your shopping cart should you prefer to have the coat arrive ready to wear, including options to have the sleeves hemmed and shoulder loops sewn on that are used to attach hard shoulder boards.
