Worn by both Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary personnel, our Garrison Cap is made with blue serge fabric and is manufactured in the USA to meet or surpass all regulations and requirements. All insignias are sold separately.
The Coast Guard Garrison Cap is authorized for wear with the Tropical Blue and Winter Dress Blue uniforms and is optional for the Service Dress Blue “Bravo” uniform and the Coast Guard Band Ceremonial Uniform (but only if medals are not worn). Hair is not allowed to extend past the foremost point of the cap, and the bottom of the cap should be between 1 and 1.5 inches above the eyebrows.
Garrison Cap insignia for officers include a miniature version of the Combination Cap insignia (an eagle with outstretched wigs clutching a horizontally positioned fouled anchor) worn on the left, while the right side is used for rank insignia. Both insignia are positioned 1.5” from the bottom of the cap and 2" from the right or left of the front crease.
What type of insignia enlisted Guardsmen wear on the Garrison Cap depends on their pay grade. E-1 through E-3 wear a miniature version (approximately 1” in diameter) of the Coast Guard medallion; E-4 through E-6 wear an insignia with the appropriate number of chevrons under a silver Coast Guard shield; and Chief Petty Officers (E7 to E-9) wear the fouled anchor CPO insignia (with one or two stars for Senior CPOs and Master CPOs respectively). These are all worn on the left side.
