Although the Navy phased out the Aviation Working Green uniform for
Officers and
CPOs in 2011, we continue to carry the uniform, as well as associated components and accessories, in response to high demand among veterans, uniform collectors, and media production companies searching for authentic uniforms.
The 36-ligne (36-line) buttons are for the front panel of the jacket, while the 22.5-ligne buttons are for the side and breast pockets.
Before it was discontinued, the Aviation Working Green uniform was authorized by “prescribing authority” when the wearer was “engaged in work at aviation activities, flying, or aboard vessels servicing aircraft at advanced bases.” Components included green Combination Caps for male personnel and green Garrison Caps for females, khaki shirts and gold-buckled belts, black four-in-hand tie for males and black necktabs for females, and black shoes (brown shoes were optional).
