With the obvious exception of collar grade insignia and cap devices, the Male Chief Petty Officer Service Khaki Uniform is identical to the one worn by Officers and Chief Warrant Officers. Worn while carrying out watchstanding assignments, performing office duties, or while on liberty or conducting business ashore when prescribed as the Uniform of the Day, it can be worn in both Summer and Winter. It comprises a khaki short-sleeved shirt worn with an open collar, khaki trousers, khaki belt with a gold clip and gold buckle, black dress shoes with black socks, and a khaki combination cap. Prescribable items include a garrison cap instead of a combination cap, black leather gloves, and reefer.
Optional components include but are not limited to a variety of outerwear garments designed for different climates (all-weather, cold-weather parka, blue overcoat, black zippered jacket, neck gaiter, knit cap,), non-leather black gloves, black sweater, and black umbrella. Brown dress shoes are also optional, but if they are worn the standard black socks must be replaced with khaki socks.
