The Male Officer Dinner Dress White Jacket Uniform (DDWJ) is a Summer Uniform worn at official functions where civilians would be in Black Tie attire. It is prescribable for Officers in the rank of Lieutenant Commander (O-4) and above and optional for Lieutenants and below (including Warrant and Chief Warrant Officers).
There is a strong resemblance between the DDWJ mess jacket and its blue counterpart worn during the Winter with the DDBJ: they are both single-breasted, long sleeved, mess jackets made from authorized Navy fabric, featuring narrow semi-peaked lapels and a back that tapers to a point. Both uniforms require blue evening trousers, a black bow tie, gold cuff links and shirt studs, and a gold cummerbund, but the DDWJ Uniform uses Shoulder Boards for rank insignia instead of the sleeve stripes and devices employed by the DDBJ.
