Worn by Officers and Chief Petty Officers, the Female Service Dress Blue Coat is a basic component of the Female Service Dress Uniform and the Full Dress Blue Uniform. Construction of the coat is the same for both Officers and CPOs, with the only difference being headgear ornamentation and sleeve insignia (ordered separately on our pages for
sleeve stripes,
sleeve devices,
rating badges, and
service stripes.)
Some of its specifications and features include:
♦ Single-breasted design
♦ 55/45 Mil-Spec polywool gabardine
♦ Four 35-ligne Navy eagle buttons
♦ One welt breast pocket
♦ Sword/cutlass slit
While all buttons should be buttoned when wearing the Service Dress Blue Coat, it may be removed when worn in immediate office space, with commanders or commanding officers specifying areas within the command where coats must be worn.
Note: Our military dress coats and jackets are manufactured and ship with unfinished sleeves longer than most customers would ever need. This is to accommodate various arm lengths and to minimize total alteration costs, since placement of sleeve stripes or services stripes is predicated on the distance from the sleeve end. We do offer a variety of sleeve alteration services that will be suggested to you when add the coat to your shopping cart should you prefer to have the coat arrive ready to wear.
