The White Belted Skirt is an optional clothing item for all Female Navy personnel. Junior Enlisted Sailors (E1 to E6) may wear it in lieu of slacks with the Service Dress Dress White, Full Dress White, and Dinner Dress White Uniforms, while Officers and Chief Petty Officers may choose it for wear with the Summer White Service Uniform.
Manufactured with Navy-authorized Certified Navy Twill (CNT), the skirt has an A-line design, two front welt pockets and a back zippered closure. It is worn with flesh-tone hosiery, the zipper centered in the back, and a white belt with gold buckle and lip passing through all the belt loops. The hem may fall anywhere from 1.5 inches above to 1.5 inches below the crease behind the knee. (Note: We ship the belted CNT skirt unhemmed so that you may have it altered to conform to regulations.)
Wear of the Whte Belted Skirt is not permitted aboard ship, although it may be worn when immediately departing or returning to ship. A restriction much less applicable but in force nonetheless is that any uniform made with Certified Navy Twill (100%) may not be worn in any operating fire room.
