The Female Officer Service Dress Blue Uniform (SDB) can be prescribed for wear year-round to all official functions where Formal, Dinner, or Full Dress Uniforms are not prescribed and the equivalent civilian dress is coat and tie. Excluding undergarments, basic components of the Female Officer SDB include the SDB coat, white dress shirt, blue slacks with no belt loops, white Combination Cap, black service shoes, and black necktie (necktab). Ribbons are worn in lieu of medals, and items that may be prescribed for wear include gloves (black leather or white fabric), blue overcoat, and white undershirt.
Female Officers do have several options regarding slacks and footwear. Either the blue unbelted skirt or Male Officer SDB Trousers may be worn instead of the blue unbelted slacks; if the skirt is worn, flesh-tone hosiery must also be worn. Skirt length may range from 1.5” above and below the crease behind the knee. Black dress shoes are also an optional wear item, but as with the skirt, their wear must be accompanied with hosiery replacing socks. [Note: the Female Officer SDB becomes the Female Officer Full Dress Blue Uniform by wearing dress shoes and hosiery and regular-size medals instead of ribbons.)
