The U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps reserves two rows of acorns and oak leaves on the visor of the Khaki Combination Cap, embroidered in lustrous gold bullion, as part of the headgear insignia designating its Flag Officers. Serving in pay grade O-7 to O-10, these include Rear Admirals (lower and upper) serving as Chief Professional Officers in specialized fields (Dental Health, Dietitian, Environmental Health), a Vice Admiral appointed as Surgeon General, and a 4-star Admiral who has been nominated and approved as the Assistant Secretary for Health.
Be sure to check the entries in the drop-down selection boxes to the right before you add the cap to your shopping cart. The default selection for Cap Device is metal, which is the only currently authorized cap device for the Combination Cap, but we still offer embroidered cap devices that were once permitted because of demand from collectors, veterans, and other specialty buyers. Under Fabric, be sure that you choose the type of fabric for your cap that matches the fabric used to make your uniform.
