The United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps authorizes the wear of up two authorized skill badge patches, including the Field Medical Readiness Badge (FMRB), over the USPHS ID tape worn on the left breast of the Operational Dress Uniform shirt. The embroidered FMRB patch is folded to form a square before it is sewn onto the ODU, and if always worn above any other badge worn on that side. Note: the FMRB may not be embroidered directly onto the ODU.
Also issued as a metal device, the FMRB is awarded to Officers who have met standards that exceed those necessary for basic force readiness and whose performance while engaged in Corps’ deployment serves proof of their knowledge and kill. Besides meeting all the Force Readiness Standard, recipients must also pass the Annual Physical Fitness Test Level II; complete all mandatory Web-based training modules; and participate in at least one Corps deployment for a minimum of seven days (fitness and deployment requirements have been met within a 3-year period). The award is permanent—once received, it may be worn throughout the wearer’s career as an Officer in the Commissioned Corps.
