When U.S. Public Health Service civilian workers who have been detailed to one of the 16 Quarantine Stations administered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention wear uniforms that call for shoulder boards, they replace any USPHS boards they may be wearing with a special Quarantine Flag board that reflects their current duty status.
These soft shoulder boards come in a single size worn by both male and female personnel. Worn on epauletted clothing items such as shirts and sweaters, the boards are attached so that the Quarantine Flag insignia is “flying behind” the wearer, i.e., the flag staff is to the wearer’s front and the flag is pointing to the wearer’s rear.
Use the drop-down box to select the number of stripes appropriate for your rank or General Schedule level. These stripes feature maroon broadcloth in the 1/4-inch space above a single stripe and between adjacent stripes, a design that was first introduced in 1937.
