Our 3/4-inch silver braid for U.S. Air Force Formal, Ceremonial, and Modified Service Dress uniforms is made in the USA with Mil-Spec materials and is designed to meet or exceed all pertinent U.S. Air Force Regulations. Listed price is for one yard; use the plus-and-minus input just below the price to the right to increase the number of yards purchased.
The 3/4-inch silver braid is reserved for two groups of personnel, General Officers and personnel wearing Ceremonial Uniforms. The latter include those serving in Honor Guards (USAF or Base); Color Guards; Drill Teams; Military Funeral Details; USAF, Academy, or Regional Band; or Arlington National Cemetery Chaplains.
Male and female General Officers wear the 3/4-inch silver sleeve braid on the coats of the Men’s and Women’s Formal and Mess Dress uniforms. Male General Officers place the braid 3 inches from the bottom of the sleeve, while female General Officers position it 2 1/2-inches from the sleeve’s bottom.
3/4-inch silver braid is used far more extensively on Ceremonial Uniforms worn to, during, and from official ceremonies. On the Ceremonial coat, the 3/4-inch silver braid is sewn on 3 inches from the bottom of the sleeve; the same rules applies to the coat worn with the Modified Service Dress Uniform and Ceremonial Band Tunic worn by USAF Band members. For Ceremonial trousers and slacks, 3/4-inch silver braid is sewn on the outseam from the bottom of the waistband to the hemline, while the instructions for Modified Service Dress Uniform and Ceremonial Band Tunic state simply that the braid is sewn on the “side of trousers and slacks.”
Lastly, 3/4-inch silver braids are sewn onto the sleeves of the Ceremonial Overcoat worn with Ceremonial Uniforms, placed three inches from the bottom of each sleeve.
