Designed for wear on utility uniforms and specialized outerwear clothing systems and garments, subdued cloth rank insignia are available in two distinct camo patterns and are manufactured with three styles of attachment methods: Sew-on, hook and loop (“Rank with Velcro”), and Slip-on (“Goretex loop”).
Use the Pattern and Style drop-down selectors to the right to specify the appropriate insignia for a particular type of uniform or garment, with the exception of enlisted rank insignia for the Airman Battle Uniform coat. The ABU is in the process of being phased out and replaced with the OCP, Operational Camouflage Pattern. The mandatory possession date for the OCP uniform is 1 April 2021. Besides featuring a dramatically different camouflage pattern, the OCP utility uniform also has new wear guidelines for rank insignia, with all personnel wearing their choice of Sew-on or hook and loop insignia on the chest of the OCP coat. The attachment style for the rank insignia must be the same as that used for both the OCP’s nametape and USAF tape.
