Air Force regulations requires Majors to wear subdued cloth insignia on its two main utility uniforms, the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) and Airman Battle Uniform (ABU), as well as on several outwear clothing systems and their components.
While OCP and ABU are instantly associated with camouflage patterns, they also refer to what could be called uniform systems, with insignia worn in different locations and with different attachment methods. The latter include sew-on, Velcro (displayed as "Rank with Velcro" in our drop-down selections), and slip-on ("Goretex Loop"u201D). For example, Majors wear the ABU rank insignia sewn on the collars of the ABU coat (shirt), but attached by Velcro or being sewn onto the chest on the OCP. (Note that some insignia classified as ABU have solid-color backgrounds rather than ABU camo patterns.)
