The shoulder marks for Air Force Brigadier Generals (O-7) features not only a star indicating General Officer rank, but also two silver braids, one on each end of the shoulder mark. Shoulder marks worn by Field-Grade Officers (O-4 to O-6) are adorned with a single braid, while shoulder marks for Company-Grade Officers (O-1 to O-3) have no braids.
Should marks are offered in two sizes and with the insignia either embroidered with fabric or crafted with bullion. Use the drop-down selection boxes (“Size” and “Finish”) to the right to customize the shoulder marks to your preferences.
A less-formal take on the shoulder boards worn on most Mess uniforms, shoulder marks slide over the epaulets on the shoulder of long- and short-sleeve shirts/blouses worn with Men’s and Women’s Service Dress, Blue Service, Semi-Formal Dress, and Maternity Uniforms. The exception is the Maternity Mess uniform; shoulder marks are prescribed for wear on the epaulets of the white long-sleeved maternity blouse, with the jumper tucked under the epaulet so that the insignia of grade on the shoulder mark is not obscured.
Other garments on which should marks are prescribed for wear include sweaters (blue acrylic wool pullover, white or blue cardigans) and the topcoat.
